Instagram Setup
Connect your Instagram Professional Account to Safravo.
Safravo integrates with the Messenger API for Instagram. Connecting your Instagram Professional Account lets you manage Direct Messages, Story replies, and comments from the Safravo Inbox, or automate responses via the API.
Prerequisites
Before starting, make sure you have:
- An Instagram Professional Account (Business or Creator). Personal accounts are not supported.
- A Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account.
- Access to the Instagram mobile app to enable message access.
Step 1: Enable message access on Instagram
Instagram requires you to explicitly allow connected tools to access your messages.
- Open the Instagram app on your mobile device.
- Go to your profile and tap the menu icon (☰) in the top right.
- Tap Settings and privacy.
- Scroll to Messages and story replies → Message controls.
- Under Connected tools, toggle Allow access to messages to ON.
This step must be completed before Safravo can receive your messages.
Step 2: Connect to Safravo
- In the dashboard, go to Settings → Channels.
- Click Connect Channel and select Instagram.
- Click Connect with Facebook.
- Log in to the Facebook account that administers the linked Facebook Page.
- Select the Instagram account you want to connect and grant the required permissions.
Step 3: Verify the connection
Once redirected back to the dashboard, your Instagram account should appear as Active in Settings → Channels.
To confirm it's working:
- Send a Direct Message to your Instagram account from a personal account.
- Open the Inbox in the dashboard.
- The message should appear and you can reply immediately.
Known limitations
- 7-day standard messaging window — Instagram allows you to respond to a user with standard messages within 7 days of their last message. After 7 days, you cannot send standard messages to that user.
- Group threads are not supported via the API.
